Lunar New Year Day!
then, let's know what koreans do and eat in the lunar new year day.
1. Cooking
1) Bun(Mandoo)
koreans cook buns. many people knead flour and make the bun, but today, a lot of people buy the kneading. bun stuffing is made up of minced meat, crushed bean curd, minced kimchi, chopped garlic and so on. then put the stuffing on the kneading and wrap the stuffing in kneading. 2) Rice cake soup
Koreans eat Rice cake soup, and believe that we grow old when we eat rice cake soup. Eating rice cake soup means that hope long life like garae-rice cake, to earn much money (shreded garae rice cake looks like the coin). (garae rice cake)
2. New year's Call
On the lunar new year day, young people make a new year's call for elders.
then, Elders give young people well wishing remarks and money. we can find this custom in China and Japan.
3. Ancestor-memorial services.
Korea was a confucianism country, so many people are followed by confucianism customs until today. On the lunar new year day, koreans visit their ancestor's tomb and salute with some food.
